- Chance For Area Residents to View Sold-Out Performance –

The Clan Currie Society and TV-36 Communities on Cable announced today that they will join forces to broadcast the Fifth Annual “Pipes of Christmas” concert live on Saturday, December 20th, at 8:00 PM.

“TV-36 is excited to bring this critically acclaimed production to its viewing audience”, says Alice Kolator, president of TV-36. “The Pipes of Christmas have grown in popularity and have become a holiday tradition in the community. The live broadcast of the sold-out concert on TV-36 will ensure that no one will be disappointed this holiday season”, she adds.

Robert Currie, president of the Clan Currie Society, added, “We are thrilled to be able to expand the outreach of our holiday program through this unique partnership with TV-36. This unique opportunity will permit us to reach an incredibly wide audience of over 40 thousand households representing a total of six New Jersey communities - Summit, Short Hills, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, Union, and Springfield – in the Comcast Cablevision service area.”

In 2001 TV-36 Communities on Cable and Clan Currie first partnered to broadcast concert highlights of the Pipes of Christmas” on Christmas Eve and has continued to do so ever since. The last two productions were both recipients of the prestigious Telly Award for production excellence.
In addition to the first-ever live broadcast, concert highlights will also be shown throughout the holiday season. Tune into TV-36 and check the bulletin board for viewing times.

The program, produced by the Clan Currie Society of Summit, will feature the music of Christmas accompanied by a selection of readings taken from Celtic literature and Scripture. Featured performers include Metropolitan Opera star Mark Delavan, Celtic Fiddler Paul Woodiel, the R.P. Blandford & Son Pipe Band, and the Solid Brass ensemble. Also returning will be Jeff Rickard and Susie Petrov on organ and piano.

Joining Clan Currie’s regular company of outstanding performers for this Fifth Anniversary production will be the renowned New Jersey Youth Chorus, under the direction of Trish Joyce, Irish tenor Tom Roche of the Boheme Opera Company of Trenton, uilleann piper Christopher Layer of the Trinity Irish Dance Company of Chicago, and Celtic harpist Jennifer Port direct from Scotland.
